There are tons of crazy miracle baby stories out there, but when 99-year-old Doris Ayling got a note from her doctor telling her that she had a bun in the oven, she knew it was a bit too far out there to be possible.
“I’m almost 100, so how can I be expecting?” Doris said. “I have three children and 20 grandchildren, but I haven’t been pregnant for 70 years.”
When she continued to read the note from Fareham Community Hospital in Hampshire, England, she found it to be rather hilarious. The letter asked her to bring in a urine sample to a prenatal appointment. Her son, Brian, also roared when his mom told him about the mix up.
“It’s very amusing,” Brain explained. “She got enjoyment out of it and everyone had a good laugh. It’s just one of those things.”
While Doris and her family seemed to think the mistake was pretty hysterical, we bet the hospital was mortified.
“It was a rare administrative error, and we have apologized for any unnecessary anxiety this may have caused,” a spokesman said.
Well, at least Doris was delighted.
