When writer Eve Peyser Tinder matched with Martin Shkreli, the 32-year-old pharmaceutical executive who the Internet has been hating on after he bought the rights to Daraprim, a drug used to treat things like AIDS-related toxoplasmosis, and jacked up the price from $13.50 per tablet to $750 per tablet, she decided to troll the hell out of him, Pink News reports.
Peyser wrote on Mic that she messaged Shkreli because she “wanted to know why he did what he did” and “wanted to understand the stories that greedy people tell themselves so they can function in the world.”
After their initial “what’s up” texts, Peyser launched right into “DTGMAD?” to which he replied, “What’s that lol” and she said “Down to give me AIDS drugs?” He then responded, “LOL Hopefully you don’t need em.” Once she’d built up the seemingly silly rapport, she kept interviewing him while he talked about how “fine” he is with the media’s hatred of him.
In the texts, Shkreli tries to defend his actions, saying that “this disease was foresaken by drug companies for not being profitable enough. Only a few thousand people get it. So no new drugs for 70 years. Now we’ll fix that. Also no one goes without drug even if they can’t afford it.”
Peyser and Shkreli agrees to disagree and Martin tells her he doesn’t think capitalism is evil and says that “the best capitalists [are] giving away all of their money,” which is just before Peyser issues her mic drop of “Do you think you’re the Snowden of AIDS drugs?” Peyser says he never responded to that one.
Apart from his raising the prices of these drugs, which isn’t technically illegal, he’s also become infamous for allegedly offering an ex-girlfriend $10,000 to let him go down on her and according to a lawsuit, once told a former employee, “I hope to see you and your four children homeless and will do whatever I can to assure this.”
So basically, Peyser really nabbed herself a good one. How is he still single?
