“I am at your service O’ mother. I am at your service.”

As we reached the outskirts of Karbala me and my friends sat on the sidewalk to take some rest before we continued walking again. As we were sitting, I saw this young Iranian man pushing his elderly mother on a wheelchair barefoot.

The walk from Najaf Al-Ashraf to Karbala is approximately 80 km (50 miles). Imagine, this young man had been pushing his mother barefoot from Najaf until they had reached Karbala. As he pushed her, his mother kept crying and saying in Farsi, “May God have mercy on you my son. May God be pleased with you my son. May God grant you whatever you wish for my son.” His reply was, “I am at your service O’ mother. I am at your service.”
After seeing this, all I could do at that point was bury my head between my knees and cry.
